Tata Tiago Gets a Stunning 2026 Makeover: New EV, Premium Cabin and Smart Features That Could Surprise Buyers
The refreshed Tata Tiago arrives with sharper styling, upgraded interiors, new technology, improved EV options and competitive pricing, strengthening its position as one of India’s favourite hatchbacks.
The popular Tata Tiago has received its most comprehensive update in years, bringing a fresh design language, smarter technology and a more premium cabin experience. Nearly a decade after its debut, the hatchback continues to be a strong performer for Tata Motors, and the latest refresh aims to keep it ahead in India’s highly competitive small-car segment.
The updated Tiago is available in petrol, CNG and electric variants, offering buyers a wide range of choices depending on their driving needs and budget. While the mechanical package remains largely familiar, Tata has focused heavily on design enhancements, interior comfort and technology upgrades.
Sharper Looks, More Premium Presence
One of the biggest highlights of the 2026 Tiago is its redesigned exterior. The hatchback now features an all-LED lighting setup with daytime running lamps at both ends, giving it a more modern road presence. A new clamshell bonnet and revised front fascia add a sense of sophistication, while the cleaner grille design contributes to a contemporary appearance.
The side profile gets redesigned 15-inch alloy wheels and distinctive wheel-arch cladding made from recycled materials. The textured finish may divide opinions, but it certainly helps the car stand out from rivals. Tata has also kept chrome usage to a minimum, using it only on the door handles, resulting in a cleaner and more premium aesthetic.
At the rear, updated LED tail-lamps are connected by a full-width reflector strip, creating a wider visual stance. Vertical reflector elements on the bumper further enhance the hatchback’s sporty appeal.
Familiar Engines Continue
Under the hood, the petrol-powered Tiago retains its trusted 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine producing 86 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. The CNG version develops 75 bhp and 96.5 Nm of torque, prioritising fuel efficiency while remaining practical for daily commuting.
Both powertrains are available with a five-speed manual gearbox, while AMT options continue to cater to urban buyers looking for convenience.
The electric version remains a strong attraction in the lineup. Buyers can choose between a 19.2 kWh battery pack and a larger 24 kWh unit. These are paired with electric motors delivering varying performance outputs while maintaining the Tiago EV’s reputation as an accessible electric hatchback.
Adding to buyer confidence, Tata offers an 8-year or 1.6 lakh kilometre warranty on the smaller battery pack, while the larger battery variant comes with a lifetime warranty for the first owner.

Cabin Receives a Significant Upgrade
Step inside the new Tiago and the improvements become immediately apparent. Tata says nearly 20 percent of the cabin materials are sourced from recycled components, reflecting the company’s growing focus on sustainability.
Higher variants receive soft-touch light-grey fabric inserts across the dashboard and door panels, giving the cabin a more upmarket feel. The centrepiece is a new 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen that handles vehicle settings and entertainment duties.
A particularly useful addition is the blind-side monitoring system. Whenever the indicator is activated, a camera feed from the corresponding side appears on the display, helping drivers navigate traffic more safely.
Other highlights include:
- 65W USB-C fast charging ports
- Rotary gear selector on AMT variants
- 360-degree camera on higher trims
- Physical HVAC controls for easier operation
- Improved audio system
- Multi-function digital driver display
Interestingly, some convenience features such as wireless charging and rear USB-C charging are available in select petrol variants but not in certain EV trims.
Safety Remains Strong
Tata has equipped all variants with six airbags as standard, a welcome move in a segment where safety is becoming increasingly important to buyers. However, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) remain absent from the package.
Value Proposition Continues to Impress
The refreshed Tiago strengthens its appeal with a combination of attractive styling, improved technology and practical powertrain options. Whether buyers are looking for a conventional petrol hatchback, an economical CNG commuter or an affordable electric vehicle, the Tiago now offers a more refined package than ever before.
Pricing remains one of its strongest advantages. The petrol range starts at ₹4.70 lakh, the CNG version begins at ₹5.60 lakh, while the Tiago EV starts from ₹6.99 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
With its modern design, feature-rich interior and competitive pricing, the latest Tiago refresh demonstrates why the hatchback continues to remain one of Tata’s bestselling models even years after its original launch.
