15 मार्च 2026 की रात Hollywood के Dolby Theatre में 98वें Academy Awards की ceremony हुई और जब रात ढली, तो दो नाम हर किसी की ज़ुबान पर थे — ‘One Battle After Another’ और ‘Sinners’। यह मुकाबला कुछ वैसा था जैसे IPL के final में दो बड़ी टीमें आमने-सामने हों — दोनों की तैयारी जबरदस्त, दोनों का दम देखने लायक, लेकिन Trophy सिर्फ एक को मिलनी थी।

और वो Trophy गई Paul Thomas Anderson की ‘One Battle After Another’ के पास।

Best Picture: ‘One Battle After Another’

Paul Thomas Anderson की यह black comedy एक has-been revolutionary की कहानी है, जिसने रात के सबसे बड़े award Best Picture सहित कुल 6 Oscars अपने नाम किए। Anderson इस जीत से वो नौवें इंसान बन गए जिन्होंने एक ही रात में Best Picture, Best Director और Best Screenplay — तीनों Oscars जीते। गौरतलब यह है कि Anderson के लिए यह पहली Oscar जीत थी — इससे पहले वो 1998 से लेकर अब तक 11 nominations के बावजूद खाली हाथ लौटते रहे थे। जैसे कोई बैटर दस साल तक nets में पसीना बहाए और फिर एक ही match में century मार दे — कुछ ऐसा ही था यह पल।

Best Director और Best Adapted Screenplay: Paul Thomas Anderson

Anderson को Best Director और Best Adapted Screenplay — दोनों awards ‘One Battle After Another’ के लिए मिले, जो उनके 30 साल से ज़्यादा के Hollywood career में पहली बार हुआ।

Best Actress: Jessie Buckley — ‘Hamnet’

Jessie Buckley ने ‘Hamnet’ में एक माँ की भूमिका निभाई जो अपने बेटे की मौत से जूझ रही होती है, और इसी किरदार ने उन्हें Best Actress का Oscar दिलाया। Buckley ने stage पर कहा, “मैं यह award उन सभी माँओं को समर्पित करती हूँ जो हर मुश्किल में भी रचती रहती हैं।” संयोग की बात यह रही कि उस दिन UK में Mother’s Day था।

Best Supporting Actor: Sean Penn — ‘One Battle After Another’

Sean Penn ने ‘One Battle After Another’ में एक racist soldier का किरदार निभाया और Best Supporting Actor जीता। यह उनका तीसरा career Oscar है, जिससे वो Daniel Day-Lewis, Jack Nicholson और Walter Brennan के बाद ऐसा करने वाले चौथे पुरुष actor बन गए हालाँकि Penn ceremony में मौजूद नहीं थे।

Best Supporting Actress: Amy Madigan — ‘Weapons’

Amy Madigan को ‘Weapons’ में एक witch के किरदार के लिए Best Supporting Actress का Oscar मिला — और यह ceremony की पहली award थी, जिसने रात की शुरुआत ही धमाकेदार तरीके से की।

Best Original Screenplay: Ryan Coogler — ‘Sinners’

‘Sinners’ के writer-director Ryan Coogler ने Best Original Screenplay जीता — यह उनका पहला Oscar था, जो उनके पाँचवें nomination में मिला।

Best Cinematography में रचा इतिहास

‘Sinners’ की cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw ने Best Cinematography जीता और Oscar इतिहास में ऐसा करने वाली पहली महिला बन गईं। यह वैसा ही था जैसे cricket में किसी महिला ने पहली बार Test match में five-wicket haul लिया हो — ऐतिहासिक और प्रेरणादायक।

इस साल Oscars में पहली बार Best Casting का award दिया गया — यह 2001 के बाद पहली नई category थी — और यह भी ‘One Battle After Another’ की casting director Cassandra Kulukundis को मिला।

‘Sinners’ का ऐतिहासिक record

‘Sinners’ ने इस ceremony में सबसे ज़्यादा 16 nominations के साथ इतिहास रचा था, मगर जीत में वो ‘One Battle After Another’ से पीछे रही। फिर भी 4 Oscars — Best Actor, Best Cinematography, Best Original Screenplay और Best Score — कम नहीं हैं।

Best Score: Ludwig Göransson — ‘Sinners’

Ludwig Göransson ने ‘Sinners’ के लिए Best Score का Oscar जीता — यह उनका तीसरा career Oscar है। उन्होंने stage पर अपने पिता को श्रद्धांजलि दी।

Animation और Music में ‘KPop Demon Hunters’

South Korean musical fantasy ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ ने दो Oscars जीते — Best Animated Feature Film और Best Original Song (‘Golden’)। K-Pop की ताकत अब Oscars तक पहुँच चुकी है।

एक दुर्लभ Tie

Best Live Action Short Film category में Oscars इतिहास का सातवाँ tie हुआ — ‘The Singers’ और ‘Two People Exchanging Saliva’ दोनों को joint winner घोषित किया गया।

International Film: ‘Sentimental Value’ — Norway

Norway की फ़िल्म ‘Sentimental Value’ ने Best International Feature Film जीता — यह Norway का अब तक का पहला Academy Award है।

Best Documentary: ‘Mr. Nobody Against Putin’

Best Documentary Feature Film का Oscar ‘Mr. Nobody Against Putin’ को मिला।

Best Visual Effects: ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’

Best Visual Effects का award ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ को मिला।

Best Sound: F1

Racing film ‘F1’ ने Best Sound का Oscar जीता।

कुल मिलाकर Oscars 2026 एक ऐसी रात थी जिसमें records टूटे, नई categories बनीं, पहली बार कुछ ऐसा हुआ जो पहले नहीं हुआ था — और cinema की दुनिया ने साबित किया कि जब कहानी सच्ची हो, तो कोई भी studio, कोई भी budget उसे नहीं रोक सकता।
